Sunday in Guangzhou

Today Mom and Dad went to a Christian Church on the island. They said it was really neat. They were the only American's there with at least 300 Chinese. People arrived 30 minutes late and were in and out of the service with cell phones ringing the whole time. The service was in Chinese, but they could follow along some as they recognized the Apostles creed. There was a choir that sang beautifully. There was a lady minister and she preached for 35 minutes in Chinese. The prayer was 10 minutes long. They were glad they went and got to experience it. Briley and I took Teagan to the Shamian park while they were at church. There were Chinese doing Tai Chi everywhere which was really neat to see. It was a very sunny and nice morning.

In the Afternoon, I took my parents to the Open Air Market just off of the island. They were really surprised at the goods that were for sale. There are pictures of the market in the last post. The Chinese will eat most of anything. Things that we would never imagine eating, were being sold in the market.

On the Pearl River at Shamian Park.
At the park, there were some very ancient kiddie rides for the kids. Briley hopped on this "rocket" and it really took off! She was driving it all over the place. It went much faster than I thought it would go and she almost ran into another child and a tree. It was so funny watching her on it. In the USA, it would have been on rails and would have gone much slower.
Ladies with fans doing Tai Chi in the Park.

Thanks for everyone's post and well wishes. We enjoy reading them every morning as much as it appears you all have enjoyed reading my blogg. Sarah, we laughed when you told us about Deal or No Deal updates--the TV here is not the greatest. Most channels are in Chinese. Andi, I hope your dad is doing well. I have been thinking about you. Only 3 days in Guangzhou, one day in the air and we will be home. I am ready for this trip to be over. ~Debbie

Debbie-what great pictures-especially Bob and Marlene! Briley did so well maybe she can take pictures too at Kayleigh's wedding!
Looks like everyone is having a good time. Bet the church service was very interesting. The shopping looked interesting but think that if I had to shop there, we would all be on diets.
Glad your weather there has been nice and hope the next days go well too and looking forward to your return.

Debbie
You have a beautiful family and I am so glad to see that everyone is happy and healthy. Briley's pictures are beautiful but she may need to put together a portfolio before I will consider her for my wedding. I can't wait for you all to be home and we can all meet the beautiful new addition to your family. Enjoy the rest of your trip and we all see you soon!
