It's Official

Today it became official--Teagan was adopted this morning. She did pretty good this morning, but since coming back from the CAB Office, she has not been able to be consoled. I don't know if this is still separation anxiety or if she is sick. She has to be continually walked, held, or swayed back and forth. Even doing this, she is still whimpering and crying. She is not eating the formula well at all. I am going to go get a different kind. It is a struggle to try to get her to sleep, try to get her to take a bottle, and try to do almost anything with her. We are all getting frustrated. Peter, my Chinese guide from the agency, has been taking her too and trying to settle her down. He got us a stroller to walk her because she is so heavy. We put her in the stroller and she of course screamed. I just never knew a child could carry on this long and not give in. She is going on very little sleep and food. I hope she gives in soon.
Dad is feeling better. He has found that the food is not what he had thought--this morning he has rice krispies for breakfast--he misses his breakfasts at home (White Lattice, the Barn, etc). Briley has met a new playmate in Clare. She is here to adopt her baby sister with her family too. They have been playing together all afteroon. Enjoy the pictures--she wasn't crying in these at least.

Oh Debbie,

I'm so sorry that things are so hard right now. You just have to believe that things WILL GET BETTER. This must be your "labor" and hopefully soon it will be over and Teagan will be snuggling with you and clinging to you because she will know that you are her Mom.

Glad to hear that Bob is feeling better. How's Marlene?

Keep your spirits up. It's a big change for everyone and as Marilyn says "this too shall pass". She's a beautiful little girl!

Thanks for the updates and pictures. Wish I could be there to try to help in some way.

I hope that things get better soon but no matter what the reason, I know that Teagan will soon be doing great with her new mom, sister and grandparents.

It is nice to know that she was so loved in her first "family" that they want to keep up with her though it makes it a little harder now as she adjusts to her new family who loves her even more!

Debbie,
What can I say that everyone else hasn't already said. Teagan, you and Briley, will get through this! It's quite an adjustment for everyone, I'm sure. Glad to hear Briley has a playmate, that is exciting and hopefully is helping you out a lot! She is a beautiful little girl though, I love the picture of the girls together, what a beautiful set of sisters! I can't wait to meet Teagan and of course see Briley and tell her what an adorable little sister she has. You'll be fine Debbie, your a great mom and I'm praying for you guys!

Glad to hear Bob is doing better! I'm sure Rice Krispies aren't anywhere near the eggs and toast here. Talk about a weight loss program! Tell Marlene to stay healthy and that we said hello!

Take Care!
Love and Hugs,
Sarah

It is wonderful to see that she has not cried the whole time since you got her. I hope that she feels better soon. It is good to here that Briley is having a good time. Teagan sure is big but that is a good thing and I can't wait to see you guys all together!

debbie- I don't know if you know Greg and Nancy Bontrager, but they adopted 2 boys from Guatamala. Their sister Ashlyn told me that they had the same type of troubles that you are having with one of the boys because he was with a foster family. I will probably see Nancy tonight and ask her if she has any suggestions. Does she have a toy or blanket from her foster family that would maybe make her feel secure. I know that you are doing the best things possible, but it will take time. Keep up the good work. How's the temp? We are having snow flurries here today. Talk later. Jodi Tell everyone else hello too!

Debbie,
I know what you are going through. This was Linnea for the first 3 1/2 days. Try a new formula and see if she likes it very warm. I started Linnea out on full Chinese formula and once she settled I changed the ratio to 1/4 American to 3/4 Chinese and by the time we hit Guangzhou it was 2/3 Chinese to 1/3 American and then before we went home it was 1/4 Chinese to 3/4 American.
She will come around. Is she eating any solid food? Linnea liked mashed potatoes, the congee and scrambled eggs. Peter came and got Linnea a couple of times too. Take a deep breath and don't take it to heart. I know this is hard not to. Have yourself a good cry too if you need to. Teagan is grieving and this is a good thing, she had attached.
I found out later she had probably slept with her foster parents. She was happy outside and in the hip sling, she gradually came around to the stroller.
Oh how I widh I could help you. Hang in there it will get better!
Julie and Linnea
