What We've Been Up To

The last days of summer are upon us. We have been trying to make the most of the last days of summer before we get back into the school routine (which started for us this past week). I haven't had a lot of time lately to update this blog, so I am going to let you know what we have been up to in the month of August. The girls after church. I love taking photos of them after church in their church clothes!

The first of August, we headed up to my Aunt and Uncle's lake. The girls enjoyed a day of swimming and tubing on the hot dog!

It was such a hot month that when it would rain, the girls would beg to run in the rain puddles. I'm glad that Briley is still young enough to enjoy running in the rain. Some day, she may think she's too big for this. I hope not for a while yet!We went to the Drive-in two times in August. We love watching movies outside. This was the first time we took our puppy, Zoey. She did great and loved it too!

The day before school, we went to Imagination Station, downtown Toledo. Briley and Teagan have always loved going here. There was a dinosaur area this time and the photo below is of the girls searching for fossils.

Teagan playing in the water play area.
Another new area was sports broadcasting. Briley thought this was the coolest. You are given a script to read while sitting in front of a green screen. Your image is then televised on the TV with the sport in the background. When finished, you can view your broadcast. It was fun!
After Imagination Station, we walked along the water front. It was a cloudy, but nice day.

My kids love water. They couldn't resist taking off their flip flops and walking in the reflecting pool.

The first day of school was the 25th. Briley started 3rd grade and is now at the new Elementary School. She was a little nervous the first day, but is settling in nicely to her new school and routine.
Teagan started preschool on the same day. She goes to our church's preschool and then stays for child care.
Ready to go on the first day of school. Briley at school after being dropped off for her first day. The school is so big and her classroom is the last one in a very long hall...I was a little nervous for her that she would get lost, but she did fine. Teagan with her preschool teacher, Miss Sarah. Teagan was so excited to start back to school.
Briley getting off the school bus after her first day...love the head band down on her forehead. Looks like she had a rough day, but in fact, she loved it!
What else have we been up to, but just didn't happen to have photos of you ask? Well, we have been in the pond soaking up as much sun and water as we can before it's too cold to swim again. We spent a day in Shipsewana Amish country with Grandma the week before school started. Teagan learned about the Amish for the first time and every time she saw an Amish person, she would say, "Their Amish!" We have been busy picking pears at my parents house and we have been busy delivering those pears to friends and neighbors. (To see photos from pear picking last year, click here.) We have gone to local parks. Briley started soccer practice two weeks ago. The fair is next week. Soccer games, tap dance, and church choir start the week after the fair. So...busy days ahead. Busy, but fun, just like I want it to be! Oh, and there is a chill in the air at night and I love it...Fall will soon be here!
