Christmas Pics & The Cat's on Fire Story

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. The girls were spoiled way too much, but they are worth it! There's nothing quite like seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child. We went to the Lights Before Christmas at the Toledo Zoo, after Christmas last night. The girls enjoyed seeing all the lights. It is amazing how some of the largest trees in the Zoo are completely decorated in lights. It was very pretty and quite cold too. But fun anyway!

The girls standing in front of the giraffe light display.

Briley got tired from all the walking and needed a break. Teagan wouldn't give up her stroller as she was nice and toasty warm under her blanket.

The girls on Christmas Eve opening some gifts. Look at all of them!

Briley on Christmas morning with her new ipod. She was so excited that Santa brought it for her.
Teagan with her new baby doll. She loved opening up the gifts to see what she got.

Grandma with her antique Santa that the girls got for her. And below is Grandpa with his girls on Christmas morning.
And now for the story you have all been waiting for...The cat's on fire story. Yesterday, I lit a candle and put it in the living room on my telephone stand. The stand is near my windows and Mitsey, our cat, is often sitting on the stand looking out the windows. Well, it was afternoon and Mitsey usually sleeps all afternoon, so I didn't think much about putting it there. Teagan was sleeping in her room and Briley was sitting on the couch playing computer games on my lap top. I was sitting on the couch talking on the phone to a friend making arrangements for our trip to the zoo. Suddenly Briley said, "What's that smell?" I looked behind me and on top of the couch was Mitsey and there was smoke rolling off her stomach. I yelled (and remember...I was on the phone), "Oh my gosh, my cat's on fire!" I started patting Mitsey's belly to make sure she didn't go up in flames. Briley laughed and laughed when she realized the smell was Mitsey's scorched hair from walking across my candle. Mitsey smelled so bad, I put her outside for the rest of the afternoon--it was perfect that all the snow had melted so I could put her out!
Mitsey was fine--she had curly black hairs on her belly in her white fur. Briley thought it was so funny she had to call Grandma, whom by the way didn't believe her story so Briley made me tell her it was really true! Never a dull moment in this house that's for sure! ~Debbie
