The Back to Work Routine

We have survived the past 2 weeks with my return to work. This photo of Teagan is how I felt the first day back to work. Teagan actually did great and really surprised me! It is good that we had been visiting the sitter because I think it really helped Teagan with her adjusment. Laurie is great with both of my girls. She has a lot of patience and Teagan is doing well with her. She does cry when I leave, but stops quickly and does well all day long. She is even sleeping 3-4 hours there, so she is coming home to me well rested and in a good mood in the evenings. I know I cried more the first day away from Teagan than she did!

As for my job, I have been really busy which helps keep my mind off of Teagan and helps make the time go quickly. I am so glad for the end of the day when I can be "the mom" again to the girls. I think being apart from them, helps me enjoy them even more when I am with them (if that makes any sense!). I am so fortunate to have a job that allows me to have Fridays off. We really need the 3 days together to catch up on sleep and together time. What I don't like is how busy I feel all the time now. When I am home, I need to cook, clean, care for the girls, do laundry, grocery shopping, and do yard work. In addition, Briley is playing t-ball and we have to run to the ball park quite often. The morning routine is busy getting the girls off to the sitter with breakfast in their stomachs. After work, it's rush home, get supper, and get to the ball park. I don't feel I have much time during the week, so the weekends are time to catch my breath and relax with the girls.
Teagan actually started taking a few steps last night!! She took 5-6 steps a couple of times. She knows she is doing something big as she is giggling and smiling the whole time. This photo is of Teagan walking to Briley. It was taken after their bath. It was funny...Teagan was already dressed and playing in the living room. I was in the bathroom getting Briley dried off. I could hear Teagan coming to the bathroom. I turned around expecting to see her crawling and she was WALKING! I couldn't beleive it! It was so funny to see her just decide to start walking. As slow as she was with crawling, I never thought she would walk at 12.5 months. Oh, she also finally feeds herself finger foods which helps me out a lot! And, she is spitting out words right and left. I can't get over how she is imitating words and using several words on her own.

The photo of the 3 of us will be sent to China shortly. I have to send a 6-month post adoption report to China. I will be sending 5-6 photos of Teagan and family with a report from my social worker. I have had her almost 5 months already.

I know my life seems busy now, but I wouldn't change a thing. Briley and Teagan are my life and all I do is for them. ~Debbie
