Teagan's Finding Ad

When a baby is abandoned in China, the Orphanage puts an Ad in their local paper trying to locate the family of the baby. This is most likely Teagan's first photo and it is a newborn photo as well. People in the Adoption Circles have named these "Finding Ads". There are online companies that get these newspapers in China and then charge adoptive parents for their child's Finding Ad. Teagan's ad was located and I got it today. She is the baby in the middle. Her ad says: "Fu Ni Jing, A girl. She was born on 5/27/2006. On 5/29/2006 she was found near the Weather Bureau of City. She has a fat face and light skin." This ad appeared in the "Jiangxi Economic Daily" on June 19, 2006. The second photo is the entire page from the newspaper. I know it is small, but each little square is a child's photo. I counted and there are photos of 130 babies! Teagan's photo is the 23rd photo in the fourth column of that edition. (IF you click on the photo it will enlarge). It is truely amazing at how many babies are adandoned and this is just one region of one province in China! With all the new restrictions China is placing on adoptive parents (including no more single applicants allowed), they are trying to tell the world that they no longer have an abandonment problem. I think this ad paints a different picture.

I am glad I have a newborn photo of Teagan even if it is from
a newspaper and not the greatest quality. Any bit of information from her past that I can find for her will hopefully help her when she is older. I found Briley's Finding Ad as well, but her ad does not have a photo. Jiangxi Province didn't start putting photos in the papers until 2003. Even having Briley's ad without a photo is a cherished part of her past.
